Senior Center benefits Euchre Tourney

It took a while for the losers to pay off, but the winner was quick to present the prize.

A recent euchre tournament involving four St. Johns service clubs – Kiwanis, Rotary, Lions and Exchange – not only raised a little card competition between the clubs, but also elevated the treasury of the senior center by $2,000.00.

Each service club pledged $500.00 up front to enter the contest with winner take all. Along with the pledge, a beneficiary was identified and Kiwanis’ choice was the senior center. Losing clubs forwarded their respective pledges to Kiwanis, which in turn, presented the grant to senior center director, Brenda Terpening.

The Kiwanis Club remains champion as a result of their second win of the two tournaments held.
