Special Olympics thanks supporters
The Management Team for Clinton County Area 28 Special Olympics would like to thank everyone that came out last Saturday, March 7th to help us host our 4th Annual Special Olympics Basketball Tournament. We would like to thank the Clinton County Sheriff’s Posse, Clinton County Central Dispatch/911, St. Johns Middle School and High School Staff, Clinton Area Ambulance Services, Dean Mazzolini and Deano’s Pizza, Liberty Tax Service, our athletes and their families and all of our wonderful volunteers from the community. Without all of you we would not be able to host this type of State tournament.
If you have never experienced the blessing of a person with intellectual difficulties, then you might not understand that this type of tournament allows that person to feel part of the sports arena that they are not otherwise able to participate in. You really owe it to yourself to come out and be a spectator in the stands and cheer for our local athletes and see how much joy it brings to their faces. Our upcoming events include a basketball scrimmage with a local radio station on March 21st at the Wilson Center starting at 10:00 a.m. with the cooperation of Coach’s Restaurant. Plus, our annual golf scramble fundraiser at the Highland Hills Golf Course on Saturday, June 13th with shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. For more information on any of these events, or to volunteer or if you have an athlete that you would like to sign up feel free to contact Debbie Cornell, Area Director for Clinton Co. at 517-669-7704.

Reader looking for Central School class photo
I was speaking with a classmate (Dottie Spousta nee Harris) the other day, and we were reminiscing about our time in elementary school in St. Johns. The 6th grade was the subject of our conversation.
Is there any record of class pictures, or any such thing for that time period? It would be the school year for 1953-1954. Dora Patterson, the wife of the then Clinton County Sheriff was our teacher. I’d be interested in whatever you can find.
