Picturing America
The Intergenerational experience @ Briggs Public Library is set to begin! Register now for some, one or all of the Picturing America series: “The First People”. Program dates are Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:00 p.m. with activities, art, and discussion recommended from ages 8 to 108. Youth need to be accompanied by an adult. May 14 focuses on “The Land” with historic artwork, discussion, hand-made instruments, and cultural ties shared by our local interpreter, Mrs. Joanne Sullivan, who will also lead us in a Circle Dance. May 28 highlights “The Crafts” with Clinton County’s own pottery artist, Mrs. Penny Tahvonen, who will share insights and samples of pottery and start us in the right direction with our own coil pots. The first series wraps up June 4 with “The People” looking at tribes, how life was lived, along with artwork and customs. Call us at 989-224-4702 or register in person at the Library Desk.

Circulation Revisions
Two months ago the Library Board initiated the concept of circulation limits to protect Library resources and improve the successful return of items by Library Patrons. Several of you took the time to voice your concerns, and the Library Board listened. At their April 9 meeting, the Board increased the per card limit from 15 items per user card to 25 items. Concurrently, Library Staff reviewed Library Procedures regarding card registration and have started registering children as young as 12 months with the signature of a legal adult who accepts responsibility for any fees charged to the User’s account. Such fees are usually for damage, loss, or late return. Briggs Public Library Board and Staff appreciate hearing your concerns so that Library services may improve to meet your needs.
