Picturing America
Briggs Public Library is the proud recipient of one of the 2008-2009 National Endowment for the Humanities “Picturing America” grants. Made available to schools and public libraries to promote historical understanding, foster life-long learning, and support educational goals across America, the grant includes large laminated posters of significant American artwork, discussion and activity ideas, and a wealth of information. Briggs Public Library will be offering the Picturing America experience in an intergenerational setting. Adults and youth, ages 8 and older, will be invited to explore a wide variety of art genres, hands on experiences, and a taste of period history. Guest presenters will be available where possible to expand the in-person experience. The first series dates will be released soon, so stay tuned to Briggs Public Library for more information.
MeLCat Interruption
On Wednesday, April 15, the Michigan Electronic Library Catalog and some of the Databases will be off-line due to technical repairs. The Library of Michigan regrets this interruption of service which will impact searching, borrowing, and renewing of MeLCat materials, will impact both Libraries and public access as well as creating inaccessibility to a portion of the State subscribed databases links. The State of Michigan anticipates that service will be restored on Thursday, April 16.
