Bernice I. Coleman
Bernice I. Coleman, age 92, of Elsie, MI died Monday, April 27, 2009 at Ovid Healthcare Center, Ovid, Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Ralph Parkin will officiate and burial will take place at Fairfield Township Cemetery, Fairfield Township, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel.
Bernice was born in Merrill, Michigan on September 10, 1916, the daughter of Delbert and Nellie (Wireman) Holton. Bernice graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1935 and resided most of her life in the Elsie area. Bernice married John “Jack” Coleman in 1940, he predeceased her. Bernice had worked for Universal & Redmond’s in Owosso for 38 years. She loved to garden and has traveled to Spain, Africa, France, Alaska, and Mexico. She also sold Avon for 30 years and enjoyed quilting and making crafts. She was a member of Elsie Baptist Church.
She is survived by her 3 sons; Karl and Charleen Coleman of Elsie, MI, Jack and Martha Coleman of Edenville, MI, Robert and Patricia Coleman of Elsie, MI, 17 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, 1 sister Doris Green of Elsie, MI, and 2 brothers; Ward and Iva Holton of Elsie, MI, and Millard and Phyllis Holton of Holt, MI. She was predeceased by her parents, 2 grandsons; Troy Coleman and Perry Fillmore, 1 great granddaughter, Nicole Coleman, 5 sisters; Irene, Ilah, Gertrude, Eva, and Hilda, and 3 brothers; Russell, Dick and Ellis.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, Michigan.
Judith Keyes Jones
Judith Keyes Jones of St. Johns, Michigan died Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the age of 56. She was born March 12, 1953 in St. Johns the daughter of Ivan and Hazel (Ennis) Keyes. Judy was a graduate of St. Johns High School, Class of 1971 and a retired data processor for the State of Michigan. On December 1, 1984 she married Kenneth Jones and he survives her.
Also surviving is one son, Thomas C. Lindsay III of South Carolina; a sister, Diane Stewart of East Lansing; one niece and nephew, Cheryl Stewart and Steven Reeve both of Lansing.
Private funeral services will be held. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society Capital Area Service Center 3100 West Rd. Bldg B-Ste110 East Lansing, MI 48823. Arrangements and service provided Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns.
Alma Green
Alma Marie Green, age 88, of Loveland, Colorado, formerly of St. Johns, MI entered her heavenly home April 23, 2009. Alma was a Registered Nurse, graduating from Saint Mary’s Healthcare Nursing School in Grand Rapids, MI. She and Tim traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad, particularly in Ireland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Judge Timothy M. Green, daughter Ellen Green, and her parents Leonard and Irene Weber of Higgins Lake, MI.
Surviving are her children, son Terence (Mary Lou) Green of Carlsbad, CA; two daughters, Melanie (Randy) Humphrey of Estes Park, CO, and Sharon Chapin of Grand Rapids, Michigan; along with 9 grandchildren, Michael (Colleen), Erin, and Brendan Green; Kerry Humphrey (Rhonda Mullins), Sarah (Dave) Marshall, Emily Humphrey (Mitch Murray), Kelly (Dean) Keipert, Ryan and Connor Chapin and five great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Mona Green of Mishawaka, IN.

Raymond Henry Irvin Meehling
Raymond Henry Irvin Meehling, age 76, of Eureka, MI died Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Spectrum Health System, Grand Rapids, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Monday, April 27, 2009 at 11:00 A.M., Mr. Ivan Darling will officiate. Burial will take place at Eureka Cemetery Eureka, MI. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009 from 6-8 P.M. and Sunday, April 26, 2009 from 2-8 pm with family present 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI.
Raymond was born in Saginaw County, Michigan on November 22, 1932, the son of Rudolph C. and Isabel P. (McKean) Meehling. Raymond resided most of his life in the Eureka area and he served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He married Helen Audrey (Aseltine) Meehling. Raymond retired from Mitek in Sunfield, Michigan where he worked as a machinist. He also worked for Research Tool in Ovid, and drove tractor for Andy-Ts in St. Johns. Raymond enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and he also enjoyed playing cards.
He is survived by his wife Helen Meehling of Eureka, MI, 2 daughters; Machel Meehling of Niles, MI, Rene Clark of Hanceville, Alabama, 2 sons; Bryan and Erlinda Meehling of Decauter, MI, Brian Aseltine of Niles, MI, and 1 sister Ruth Ann and Ivan Darling of Engadine, MI. He was predeceased by his parents, 1 sister Doris Case, and 1 brother Henry Meehling.

Perry H. Fillmore
Perry H. Fillmore, age 65, of Elsie, MI passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Memorial Healthcare, Owosso, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 11:00 A.M., Rev. Jim James will officiate. Burial will follow at Fairfield Township Cemetery Fairfield Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday April 24, 2009 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Perry was born in Flint, Michigan on April 30, 1943, the son of Austin and Grace (Williams) Fillmore. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany as a Demolition Expert. Perry married Irma Kisselbach on January 16, 1963 in Germany. He resided most of his life in Elsie, MI. Perry retired from General Motors Plant 10 after 36 years. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing. Family was a very important part of his life.
Perry is survived by his wife Irma Fillmore of Elsie, MI, 3 daughters; Linda and Roger Rademacher of Ovid, MI, Helen and Jason Fillmore-Lovato of Elsie, MI, and Diana and Michael Koyne of Elsie, MI, daughter-in-law Paula Fillmore of Elsie, MI, 9 grandsons, 3 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers; Doug and Frances Fillmore, Larry Fillmore, and 2 sisters; Elaine Roberts, and Bonnie Cochran. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Perry A. Fillmore and brother Fredrick Fillmore.
Donald E. Evitts
Donald E. Evitts, loving son, brother, uncle and friend, died suddenly Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at the age of 55. He was born October 2, 1953 in St. Johns, the son of Marvin and Ellomae (Cassady) Evitts. Don was a graduate of St. Johns High School, Class of 1971, had been a volunteer at Carson City Hospital, enjoyed gardening, working crossword puzzles and spending time with his dog Milton.
Surviving is his special friend, Toni Greer of St. Johns; four sisters, Diane (Jerry) Sharick and Dorothy Cornwell all of St. Johns, Deb (Rick) Louchart of Lakeland, FL, Darlene (Doug) Hufnagel of Ovid, one brother, Dale (Judy) Evitts of Middleton; two brothers-in-law, Steve Barclay of St. Johns and Don Johnson of Lansing, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Denise “Kit” Barclay and Dolores Johnson and two brothers-in-law, Terry Cornwell and Dick Adams.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2009 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns with Pastor Ken Bremer officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday and 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
