Pay debt and burn mortgage

The high point of the joint Oddfellow and Rebekah celebration held in St. Johns in May, 1940 is pictured above with trustees William Esch, left, and John Pierson, right, setting fire to a paid up mortgage on the Lodge hall.

They were assisted in the ceremony by Rev. Earl F. Collins, center. The debt has been settled and the I.O.O.F. property is now free and clear.
