Library Board Meeting Change
The Library Board voted in June to cancel their August meeting and move it to July 16th at 7:00 p.m. in the Library Meeting Room. This will facilitate timelier decision-making on some pending energy-saving projects. Briggs Public Library is an Open Meetings Act compliant governmental organization.
Family Comedy Magic Show
A full 45-minute, action-packed, family magic show featuring professional magician Jason Abbott is the focus of our Summer Reading Extravaganza. Booked for Tuesday, July 21, from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Jason’s versatility will help us share the fun and create a good time for all ages at no charge to our audience. Pre-registration is requested but not required for our Summer Reading Family Fun night, prompt arrival for the show is appreciated. Children must be accompanied by an adult for all the evening activities on 7/21.
Edible Book Event
Yes, it is just what it sounds like! Entries are being sought for edible art that has something to do with books (book shaped, book characters, book titles, etc.). Entries should be a family friendly cake that is no larger than 15-inches by 24-inches. The cakes will be the prizes in our first-ever Library Cake Walk, following the free magic show on Tuesday, July 21. For a small fee of $0.25 per ticket, cake walk participants may win a special book-themed cake, and help support future programming @ Briggs Public Library. A prize will also be given to the creator of the cake that receives the most votes from library patrons. Be sure to pre-register your entry at the Library Desk or e-mail Christine Zehr at: chrzehr@briggspubliclibrary.org by Tuesday, July 15, before 8:00 p.m. The cakes themselves will need to be checked in at the Library Desk on Monday, July 20, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. or Tuesday, July 21, from 10:00 a.m. to Noon.
Changes in Hours
Remember that Fridays change in July 2009. In accordance with usage, funding, and budgetary needs Friday hours will be 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. As per usual, the Library will be closed on Saturday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. The Drop Box is available on the Library Porch for all returns throughout this holiday closure.
