The Carson City Hospital Auxiliary (CCHA) has elected a new president and a new slate of officers for June 2009 through May 2010.
Daniyel McAlvey, a four-year member of the auxiliary, is the new CCHA president. The other CCHA officers include Vice President Marie Lynn Watts, Second Vice President Lindsey Simon, Recording Secretary Connie Faircloth, Corresponding Secretary Kris Pritchard, and Treasurer Paula Wiles.

“The purpose of the auxiliary is to promote good public relations throughout Carson City Hospital’s entire service area and network and to do what it can to help the hospital and its patients,” said McAlvey, who graduated from Carson City-Crystal High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing and Business Management at Davenport University. McAlvey is a long-time member of the community, and she and her husband, Gregg, have three children together: Carter, Carli and Connor.
McAlvey is also the new Service Excellence Manager at Carson City Hospital, a position that allows her to focus on patient satisfaction and ensuring a positive experience for all hospital staff, patients and visitors.
In addition to offering two annual $500 scholarships for graduating seniors planning to pursue careers in the health-care field, CCHA sponsors a variety of fundraisers throughout the year at the hospital. In the past year, the organization has raised almost $14,000. “We try to choose fundraisers that we think our employees and the general public will enjoy participating in, such as purse sales, a fudge sale, jewelry sales, mum sales, Lights of Love, an annual golf outing, book sales, shoe sales, keepsake engraved baby spoons for newborns, and, of course, operating our Elm Tree Gift Shop inside the hospital,” said McAlvey, noting that the gift shop is now located next to the newly remodeled Carson Apothecary Shoppe.
The CCHA meets the first Wednesday of each month in the hospital’s main conference room, and always welcomes new members. Contact Nancy Fenn at 989-584-3971 ext. 518 for information about joining.
McAlvey said she is honored to serve as the auxiliary’s president, and hopes the organization has a successful year raising funds to help both the staff and patients of Carson City Hospital.
