The State of Michigan Department of Community Health conducted their annual inspection at HIFCM June 2-5, 2009. Upon their exit interview the surveyors informed the staff that they had no citations. Sally Chapko, RN, Hazel I. Findlay’s Director of Nursing, was also told by the survey team that they could tell everyone here, from maintenance to housekeeping to the clinical staff, really cares about each of the residents.

“We are absolutely ecstatic,” stated Administrator Steve Hill. “A survey with no citations extremely rare. I am so proud of our staff; they work very hard each and every day to provide the very best care for our residents.”

Family members and residents agree that HIFCM is a great place to be, for Long Term care or for Short Term Rehabilitation. Resident Bonnie Showers has high praise for the staff and facility. “I like living here. I feel safe and they take really good care of me. There is always something fun to do and the staff treats you with respect. That is very important to me.”

Terry Scranton, whose mother Millie Scranton was at HIFCM for both long term and short term care, agrees. “My mother had been at HIFCM for short term rehabilitation following knee surgery. We were very pleased with her care then. When she could no longer live alone, we knew that HIFCM would be the right place for her. We could not be more complimentary of the staff.”
