Are you being ground by the daily grind, beat up by bad luck or trodden by tough times?
If you can’t tell if your glass is half full or half empty, stop harassing yourself and take a tip from Peter Vanden Berg’s new book, “life ain’t ALL bad.” It takes only 45 pages to skip through ten chapters, but the tales related live up to the title with a spirit of inspiration and encouragement for a strong measure of steadfast personal resolve. It doesn’t make any difference which way you look at your glass, just refill it and move on.
The author will host a book signing at Clinton County Arts Council Gallery Saturday and Sunday August 15 and 16 from noon to 2 p.m. each day.

Peter Vanden Berg, author of “life ain’t ALL bad” signs a copy of his book for Jenny McCampbell, vice president of Clinton County Arts Council.
Incidents related throughout the book draw freely not only from Vanden Berg’s personal life experiences, but also those encountered as a former police officer in a medium size Michigan city. Chapter topics range from family and strangers to activities and events, such as home movies, camping trips and sky diving. Each is woven into a fabric reinforced with threads of sensitivity to life and its sometimes forgotten abundances.
As each chapter opens, the author sets a contented or challenging scene and proceeds to compel attention by effortlessly expanding on the situation to the point the reader cannot deny the need to know each chapter’s end. That end overflows with encouragement to pursue life’s great adventure and to unburden the mindset that inhibits the powers of acceptance and love. Not to mention the excitement experienced when breaking the monotony that routine imposes.
Vanden Berg has succinctly captured precious ideals from common and exceptional circumstances most people experience, yet unknowingly share among others without recognizing the hidden influence they bring to bear on everyday living. It is a delightfully inspiring read that revives consciousness of life and an awakened awareness of those with whom it is shared.
Information on the signing or Vanden Berg’s book may be had by calling the Gallery, 989.224.2420 or by simply attending one of the two planned sessions.
Peter Vanden Berg and his wife, Lisa, reside in the St. Johns area and are parents of three teen age children, two daughters and a son. Vanden Berg is a builder of custom homes.
