
I looked at this photo of John Thrush for a long time before deciding he’s working in the “Roll and Slit” department. In this photo the material coming out of the rolling mill looks very shiny like it’s a Babbitt strip. But after looking at the photo with a magnifying glass, I found that the coils on the floor just behind him have HF-2 material. That’s a copper/lead/steel back bearing/washer material. Also I don’t believe Babbitt strip goes through a secondary roll operation. At least not under normal circumstances.
When he retired on October 1, 1988, I think John was working in the Diamond Bore department.
