Habitat for Humanity of Clinton County has recently hired Paul St. Louis as their first ReStore Director. The ReStore, located at 2352 N. US 27 in St. Johns, receives donations of new and gently used housing products and sells them to the general public at deeply discounted prices. The proceeds from the store will help to fund future Habitat projects and help to reach more people in Clinton County.
The Director will be responsible for helping to develop policies, organize the store layout, process inventory, promote the ReStore, recruit and train staff, help procure necessary permits, assure the facility meets all codes, handle pricing, sales procedures and handle the daily task of running the ReStore.

St. Louis comes from Lapeer County where he chaired their ReStore Committee and served as the ReStore Manager, guiding the process of getting their store up and running. “Within the first month, we had facilitated the ReStore showing a profit in Lapeer.” The Lapeer store has set new standards with an Inventory online and Job Training/Experience site. “We are pleased that Clinton County’s ReStore in St. Johns will be the second in the State to adopt these standards and, once open, will become the fifth largest ReStore in the state of Michigan,” St. Louis says.
“Our goal is to help the community enjoy a HIGHER Standard of Living at a lower cost.” Donors to the ReStore will receive a receipt for tax purposes. Everyone is invited to shop and save a “mint” at the St. Johns ReStore, where the profits will lead to necessary funding for future Habitat homes in Clinton County and people will benefit from the Job Training/Experience that the ReStore can provide.
The Habitat for Humanity of Clinton County ReStore will be opening to the public in late summer or early fall 2009, however products can be viewed and purchased online by visiting the website: www.restorestj.com. The ReStore is currently accepting donations Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, and interested people can call 989-227-0000 for further information.
