If you like to sit back and enjoy great entertainment, plan to spend some time at the 2009 St. Johns Mint Festival.
During the daytime you can enjoy performances like Czech Sounds with the Stan Saylor Band, feats of strength from Strongman Don Drenth, harmonizing from the Capitol City Chordsmen, a whole lot of shaking from Elvis, dance moves by Children’s Ballet Theatre, LA Cloggers and Tari’s Cornerstone Studio for Dance and regional talents Larry Howland and the St. Johns Community Band.
Special performances of the Tony Award-winning musical, Grease will take place on Saturday, August 15 at 3:00 pm and Sunday, August 16 at 1:00 pm in the Performance Shell in the City Park. The cast features theatre all stars of St. Johns past, present and future. The show is under the direction of St Johns High School director Ashley Bowen, with choreography by Trisha Bellgowan and Hayley Barnes.
The headline entertainment of the festival will take place Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:00 pm in the Performance Shell in the City Park. On Friday the Yellowsub Marines will be re-creating Beatles music. What brought them together was the music. What keeps them going is the smile on the faces of Beatle fans everywhere.
On Saturday The Classics Band brings you the finest in LIVE entertainment. They re-create the exciting music of the 50’s and 60’s and everything from the 30’s through the 90’s. Put on your dancing shoes and get ready to boogie to this nine-piece sensation. The fun is non-stop so come on out and let your hair down.
