The St. Johns Police Department was recently awarded a grant from the Tri-County Bicycle Association and the DALMAC Fund for the purchase of two police all-terrain bicycles.
Through this grant the department was able to purchase two new police all-terrain bicycles outfitted with light and siren equipment for use in patrolling the city streets, parks and other areas that are not easily accessible by vehicle. The bicycles will also be used for parades, fairs and festivals when it is advantageous to have officers on bicycle.
Director Madden stated, “These bicycles will help us to interact more closely with the citizens of St. Johns, especially children.”

The department was assisted in ordering the bicycles and accessories by Smith Pedal and Ski Shop in St. Johns. The DALMAC fund is supported by proceeds from the annual Dick Allen Lansing to Mackinaw bicycle tour (DALMAC) and is administered by the Tri-County Bicycle Association of Lansing, Michigan.
