Joyce Whittaker
Joyce E. Whittaker died Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at the age of 81. Joyce was born October 31, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Noah and Lillie (Owens) Barber. Joyce was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in St. Johns and owned her own tax accounting business. On April 3, 1948 she married Ralph Whittaker in Detroit, he preceded her in death August 1, 2004.
Joyce is survived by her five children, Diane (Dr. James) Schweigert, Dennis (Diana) Whittaker, Sally (Phillip) Perry, Timothy (Carolyn) Whittaker and Jeannie (Dr. Jonathon) Altman. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and her sister, Virginia Adams. Along with her husband, Joyce was preceded in death by her sister, Sarah Whittaker and brothers, Buford, Clarence and James Barber.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 18 at the St. Johns Church of the Nazarene at 1 PM, burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery in St. Johns, Pastor Randall Rucker will be officiating. Her family will receive friends 6-8 PM on Wednesday, 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Thursday at the Osgood Funeral Home 104 E. Cass St. in St. Johns. Steven R. Wadsworth
Steven R. Wadsworth of St. Johns, Michigan died Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at the age of 47. He was born September 14, 1961 in St. Johns the son of Richard and Angeline (Ely) Wadsworth. Steven was a graduate of St. Johns High School, Class of 1979 and has a degree in computer programming. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and spending time working and playing on computers. He attended the Nazarene Church and worked for several companies in information technology.
Surviving is one son, Jonathon Wadsworth of St. Johns; his mother, Angeline Phelps of St. Johns; two sisters, LeAnn Voightritter of St. Johns, and Sheila Wadsworth of Lansing; one nephew, Matthew Bashore of DeWitt; three nieces, Sarah and Jessica Court of Lansing and Meghann Voightritter of Spring Valley, CA and a special aunt, Carol Richter of Utica, MI.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at DeWitt Cemetery. Arrangements and service provided by Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns.
Michelle Rachmaninoff
Michelle L. Rachmaninoff died September 9, 2009 at the age of 48. She was born September 13, 1960, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Nikolai and Eva (Braun) Rachmaninoff. She had a MBA from Virginia Tech and was the owner of AWA Accounting, Inc. in Laingsburg.
She is survived by her parents, Eva R. (Braun) Wendling of Manistique, MI, Dr. Nikolai Rachmaninoff of Bloomfield Hills, MI, her step father, Dr. Dieter Wendling of Manistique, MI, brothers, Andre (Suzanne) Rachmaninoff of Ormond Beach, FL, Jean-Pierre (Vanessa) Rachmaninoff of Winnetka, IL, Peter R. (Anne) Wendling of Bellaire, MI, sister, Nicole (Dr. Jeffrey Yung) Rachmaninoff-Yung of W. Bloomfield, MI, several nieces and nephews, step brothers and step sisters. Michelle was preceded in death by her step mother, Keiko Rachmaninoff.
The family will hold private services at a later date. Arrangements by Osgood Funeral Homes.
Laura A. Soliz
Laura Ann Soliz, age 48, passed away at her home near Anchorage, Alaska on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. Laurie graduated from Ovid-Elsie High School with the class of 1979. She continued her education and built a very successful career as a Human Resource Manager, working for many years for the Kmart Corporation, several years for Home Depot and recently for Fairweather E&P SVS, Inc., Marsh Creek, LLC. She had worked and resided in Alaska since August of 2001.
She is survived by her daughter, Rachael Ledesma Soliz, son in law, Juan Carlos Ledesma, and six grandchildren, David, Marlania, Juan Carlos, Maria Isella, Condido Rafael and Octavio. Also survived by her loving parents, Ralph and Barbara Soliz, sister, Lisa (Neil) Criner, brothers, Timothy (Carol) Soliz, Steve (Susan) Soliz and sister, Rebecca (Jeff) Poli. Also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, neices, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 17, 2009, at the Houghton Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes, 232 E. Oak St., Ovid, with Rev. Dennis Boonstra officiating, burial following at Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday.
