This is Duke and he is a Senior Golden Retriever/German Shepherd mix. He was born in 2000, and he is neutered and weighs 95 pounds.

You see, Duke is a very special dog who has heartworm disease. Because of his age, it was decided that he would not undergo the difficult and risky treatment to rid him of heartworms. Instead he will be given the preventative pill each month to control the disease.

Even though Duke has health issues, he is a normal, happy guy who has some good years left. We call him the gentle giant. He is very calm, laid back and gets along with other dogs.

Can someone find it in their heart to give this gentle giant a home so he can love you back and have a normal life for the years he has left?
