Pointing, entertainment, and some questions

What has happened to professional boxing’s heavyweight division? Over the years boxing fans enjoyed some great fights involving Muhammad Ali, Joe Fraser, George Foreman and Larry Holmes.
Nowadays we just have the lighter weight division fights to watch. They’re nice, but they lack the big punch. Ingemar Johannson called it, “Thunder and Lightning.” That’s what makes the heavyweight division so exciting. It reminds me of Howard Cosell and his excited and repeated call during the Fraser/Foreman fight, “Down goes Fraser.” The lightweight division fights are mostly tap-tap-tap, all night long (that’ll get me some fan mail).
Just wondering.

Have you ever noticed all the finger pointing going on during a football game? They look like a bunch of kids on a playground pointing at each other and accusing them of doing something naughty. I don’t know whether it affects the defense when they do that or not. Most of the time it’s the center pointing to defensive players because he thinks something doesn’t look just right given the offensive play called in the huddle.
I think the quarterback does it just so it looks like he knows what’s going on. The next thing he knows, he’s lying on his back.
Did he miss something?

Recently athletes and rappers have been going above and beyond to entertain us. I always like it when they feel we need just a little something extra.
LaGarrette Blount went ballistic after a football game and sucker punched an opposing player who no doubt said something stupid to him. That part doesn’t bother me a bit. After all, it’s a contact sport. The part that did bother me was when his teammates tried to calm him down, he also punched them! And just to make sure everyone in the whole country was going to be watching him, he tried to go up into the stands after some fans.
Thankfully they restrained him and nothing further happened.
Suspension for the rest of the season was indeed the correct punishment.
Serena Williams didn’t like the foot fault call on her during the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament. That’s not unusual to be called for that. When I played tennis I did it all the time. The part that put the spotlight on her was not her complaint; it was the manner in which she complained.
Is Serena dating a sailor? Her language was nothing you would expect to come out of the mouth of a lady. Where was Miss Manners when Serena needed her?
Kanye West took it upon himself to interrupt Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards show to tell the world that Beyonce and not Taylor Swift had the best female music video of all time.
Oh-oh, another bad “look at me” incident.
What he did wasn’t fair to Taylor; nor was it fair to Beyonce. It made her look like the villainess in the incident. Needless to say, Beyonce was appalled at what Kanye did.
Shine on, folks. Shine on.

Did you know that grocery stores receive certain shipments of frozen fish; then thaw it out and sell it under the pretence that it’s fresh or at least it looks fresh?
We’ve always been taught that we can refreeze meat only after it’s been cooked.
Has something changed?

It’s been mentioned in the heated arguments about a new health care program that the federal government wants to siphon off $500,000,000,000 from the Medicare program to fund the new program. This can only mean one thing; the program for seniors is going to be phased out and incorporated into the new program.
Wouldn’t it be a better solution to this health care problem if they expanded, improved, and cut the waste in Medicare spending? If the survival of any national health care program depends on cutting back on the huge malpractice lawsuit settlements in this country, let’s do it.
Shouldn’t the federal government allow Medicare to shop around for cheaper drugs instead of protecting their buddy’s profits in the pharmaceutical industry?
Medicare is banned from doing that.
Until the next time . . .
