Prom night in the 60s

This photo of Jane Schumaker and Bob Ebert was taken circa 1961 on Prom night. Jane and Bob made a very nice looking couple with her new Prom dress and his rented Tuxedo

Some couples couldn’t afford to buy a dress or rent a Tux, so the girl would wear her best dress and the guy would put on the only sports coat and pants he had in the closet. If the guy was very shy, he’d buy a wrist corsage. Otherwise he’d have to fumble around pinning the corsage on her dress.

Some couples went over to Lansing afterwards where they enjoyed the first restaurant pizza they ever had.

A few guys were lucky enough to have their own car. Otherwise they either borrowed the family car or the couple rode with somebody else. A rented limousine back then was unheard of.

Jane and Bob were members of the RBW Class of 1962.
