Bill Wentworth is running a Moore Jig Borer. This machine bored holes in tooling to a specific size, but it was mostly used for jig grinding. They would locate the hole and partially grind it so the O.D. /I.D. grinders could pick up the location and finish the hole to size much quicker. They could also grind holes to size in awkward shaped pieces. The last time I saw this machine it was sitting in storage waiting for a decision as to what to do with it because it’s no longer used.

Bill transferred to the EDM room and became one of the operators.

Bill’s late father-in-law was Ace Linman, a retired foreman at Federal-Mogul. Ace was involved in the “roller skating incident” which appeared in an earlier article.

Bill quit Federal-Mogul and is now an insurance agent in St. Johns.
