South Riley Tavern golf outing supports hospice
For the past 16 years, South Riley Tavern has organized an annual golf outing to benefit Sparrow Hospice Services in Clinton County. The yearly scramble takes place at the Highland Hills Golf Course in DeWitt.
One of the most popular events at this lighthearted gathering is a unique chipping contest. All players circles a green simultaneously toss numbered golf balls at the cup. The first ball to land in the cup wins the contest.
Funds raised during the South Riley Tavern scramble are earmarked for the Clinton Memorial Hospital Foundation’s Hospice Fund. Through the years, this event has raised a total of nearly $16,000 for hospice services in Clinton County.
Hospice payments from Medicare or insurance sometimes fall short of actual costs of services. Not all families have the financial resources to pay for the needed services. The Hospice Fund at the Clinton Memorial Hospital Foundation provides financial assistance to Clinton County patients.

2009 Riley Golf Scramble Chairman Paul Bieber presents a $2,000 check to Michelle Wiseman, Director of Sparrow Hospice Services.
