East Olive Elementary closed until next Monday

The St. Johns Public Schools have announced the closing of East Olive School until Monday October 26. The closing was made on the recommendation of the Mid-Michigan District Health Department due to high rates of absences. Flu-like illnesses have produced absence rates of 30 % in the rural school.

East Olive Elementary School Principal Pat Steinhoff-Lokey and Superintendent Kenneth Ladouceur sent a letter to parents explaining the situation. They added that the decision was being made to prevent the spread of illness and that there have been no known hospitalizations of students or staff in the school.
