The Clinton County Arts Council Gallery may be in a new location, but the change in venue has not deterred the ongoing schedule of classes. Following a recent quilting session will be a two-day beading class directed by Deborah Laverty scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday Dec. 9 and 10. Beaders who have attended Ms Laverty’s previous Gallery classes know of her introductive teaching approach leading to a fulfilling project completion.
In announcing the dates, Ms Laverty explained that her projects “are designed to teach the beginning beader basic beading stitches and techniques in projects that are fun, funky and easy to do.” She pointed out that classes are designed to accommodate from two to eight students per 6-hour class. Students must be at least 13 years of age. Total cost of registration is $40.00, including a kit.

“We’re pleased that Deb is again scheduling beading classes,” Gallery Director Mike Muehlenbeck commented. “She is not only a talented bead worker but has extensive experience in the art.” Ms Laverty has been beading since 1993 and is a member of the Great Lakes Beadworkers Guild and the Women Who Bead Group. Her exhibitions have appeared at the Arts Council Gallery and other area venues, including Williamston Artfest, Old Town’s Banyan Gallery, Library Shows in Okemos and Mason and the Grand Ledge Island Art Fair.
Persons interested in registering for the class or additional information may call the Arts Council Gallery at 989.224.2429 or by contacting Ms Laverty direct by phone 517 775-0168 or lavertydeb@yahoo.com.
