Heather was diagnosed with kidney failure in January of this year. On April 1 she began dialysis treatments three days per week for approximately 4 hours a session. Her sister Kara, formerly of St. Johns, now residing in Grand Rapids, underwent testing to determine if she would be able to donate a kidney. They received the good news that Kara is a match in November. The transplant is scheduled to take place on Monday, December 14, 2009 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI.
Due to her medical condition Heather was unable to return to work this fall. She is employed by Capital Area Community Services as a teacher for the Head Start Program. She is looking forward to returning to work as soon as her physicians give her the go ahead.
Heather and her family would like to thank the members of St. John’s Lutheran Church, her friends, the community of St. Johns and her fellow employees of C.A.C.S. for their prayers and support.
