Briggs Library News
Thanksgiving Food Drive
From now until Monday, November 16, Briggs Public Library would like your help in filling up our lobby display case with non-perishable food items to donate to the local food bank. Bring your canned and dried good to the circulation desk and we will place them in the display case. Please note: cans and boxes are preferred over glass containers. Food expiration dates will be observed. We hope to fill our entryway display case to capacity by Monday, November 16, in time for Thanksgiving distribution. What a great way to teach our children to care for our friends and neighbors in need.
Mitten Tree
The Annual Briggs Public Library Mitten Drive Tree has arrived to receive new mittens or gloves (Homemade or Store-bought). Scarves and hats are also welcome. The collection is for all ages, adult or child. Items received will be donated to local charity organizations. Last year we were able to distribute 258 pairs of mittens, gloves or socks, plus 211 head warmers and 93 scarves to five local charities. All were most appreciative of your holiday kindness. Let’s do it again.
Caroling Kids
The Caroling Kids Children’s Choir returns to Briggs Public Library just in time for the holidays. Santa’s helpers are inviting all children who love music, are ages 3 – 10, and who are able to attend at least one practice and one program date to sign up. Program dates are Thursday, December 3 @ 6:00 p.m., Friday, December 4 @ 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 5 @ 10:00 a.m. Remaining practice dates are Tuesday evenings from 6:30-7:00 in the Library Meeting Room on November 10, 17 & 24. Free registration is required. Stop by the Library Desk or call us at 989-224-4702.
2009 Holiday Tween Time
Winter holidays are not all about buying and getting, but about making and giving as well. Tweens (ages 9-12) are invited to start the season out right with our 2009 Holiday Tween Time on Monday evening, November 16, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Game, snack, and givable craft are all themed to traditional festivities involving snowflakes, evergreens, snow-people, and jolly good fun. Registration is now open for this free quality program. Call us at 989-224-4702 or stop by the Library Desk to save your spot for winter-time excitement
Library Closure
In a cost-cutting measure, the Briggs Public Library will be closed on Wednesday, November 11, in observance of Veteran’s Day. The drop box will be open to receive all returns throughout this legal holiday closure.
