Karen Pokorny was another employee at Federal-Mogul who fell into the category, short timers. She’s seen here working on the Aluminum Bonding Line. What’s not shown in the picture is the Aluminum strip and the steel strip coming together to be bonded.

The record, that I’m aware of, for a short timer is one day. The guy started working in the Roll and Slit department, and the guy breaking him in told him stories about how guys have gotten their fingers caught between the rollers. The story is true.

That guy never showed up again, and his length of employment was one day.

Karen’s choice of work clothes wouldn’t have been allowed in the fifties and sixties. Times have sure changed since then.
