MMDHD schedules clinics

H1N1 Mass vaccination clinics targeting school-age children in Clinton, Gratiot and Montcalm Counties. There is no charge to receive the vaccine at these clinics and no appointment is necessary. In order to be vaccinated, students under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The scheduled clinics are as follows:

Clinton County

November 7, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at St. Johns Middle School
November 14, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at DeWitt High School

Gratiot County

November 7, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Alma Middle School
November 21, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Ithaca High School

Montcalm County

November 7, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Central Montcalm High School


The health department has an ample supply of flu mist (nasal spray) and a limited supply of the shot. The shot will be reserved for pregnant women and those who cannot receive the flu mist because of certain health issues. The flu mist can only be given to those 2 to 49 years of age who are not pregnant and do not have chronic health problems such as asthma or heart disease. Vaccinations will be offered as long as supplies last, there is no cost to receive the vaccine and no appointment is necessary.

Clinton County

These clinics are open to residents in Clinton, Gratiot and Montcalm Counties in the following target groups:

· Pregnant women and household contacts
· Household members who live with or care for infants six months and younger
· Children ages 6 months to 4 years
· Children and adolescents 5-18 years with chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems

November 12 and 19, 2009 and December 3, 10, and 17, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
