Eleanor M. Murton
Eleanor M. Murton, died November 16, 2009 at the age of 87. Born in Knox, NY, on November 29, 1921, the daughter of Omer and Elsie Snyder. Eleanor married Robert Murton on May 20, 1950 and he preceded her in death, January 19, 1992. She was a member of Pilgrim UMC, the Audubon Society and volunteered at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor.
Surviving her are son, Kent Murton of Lansing, daughter, Karen (Ken) Andrews of Dewitt, grandchildren, Eric Andrews, Danae Andrews, Michelle Andrews, Nathan Andrews, Lisa Andrews, Kirsten Andrews, Britta Andrews, Michael Murton and Thomas Murton, several nieces and nephews. Also preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Harold Snyder.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Pilgrim United Methodist Church with Pastor Kenneth Bremer officiating, burial at Lowe Cemetery. The family will receive friends, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass St., St. Johns, MI.
Memorials may be made in Eleanor’s name to Eaton Community Hospice, 2675 South Cochran, Charlotte, MI, 48813, or Pilgrim UMC or St. Johns Senior Center.

Lucille Davis
Lucille Davis, 79, passed away following a long battle with cancer. Mrs. Davis was born Lucille Brown, on March 23, 1930, the fourth daughter of Vere and Maybelle (Risley) Brown. She lived in the St. Johns area most of her life working as a homemaker and nurse’s aid at several local nursing homes. She graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School. Her husband, Ed Davis, preceded her in death as did her father, Vere Brown, her mother, Maybelle Beery, her step-father Harry Beery and her only brother, Russell Brown.
Surviving her are two sons, Robert and his wife, Laura, of Live Oak, TX and Samuel and his wife, Pat, of Springfield, MO, and her daughter Jan and her husband Alvin Schafer of Westphalia. Mrs. Davis also leaves behind eight grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Davis is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Gates of Lansing, Mrs. Isabelle Cleland and Mrs. Lillian Searles of St. Johns, and Mrs. Donna (Ed) Preston of Harrison, and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Nannette Brown of Bath.
Services will held at Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns with burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery, Rev. Kenneth Bremer will be officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 P.M and 6-8 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Sympathy may be expressed in the form memorial contributions to Sparrow Foundation Hospice Services or the American Cancer Society. Bertha “Maxine” Johnson
Bertha “Maxine” Johnson, died November 11, 2009 at the age of 89. She was born in Micanopy, Florida on February 3, 1920, the daughter of Maxey and Ruth (Tubbs) Adams. Maxine married Charles Johnson on September 16, 1947 and he preceded in her death on April 6, 1981.
Surviving are son, Butch (Lee) Griffith of Perry, MI, 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and sister, Faye Reeves. Also preceding her in death were son, Dale Johnson, 4 brothers and 1 sister.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, November 14, 2009, at the Houghton Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes in Ovid with Pastor Steve Brown officiating, burial at Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday.
