State of Michigan Michigan Supreme Court Resolution Michigan Adoption Day 2010
We, the Justices of the Michigan Supreme Court, wish to mark the occasion of the eighth annual Michigan Adoption Day; in so doing, we note that:
November 2010 has been designated National Adoption Month and November 23, 2010, has been designated National Adoption Day;
At any given time in Michigan, there are over 15,000 children and youth in foster care, of whom over 3,800 have a goal of adoption;
The goal of Michigan Adoption Day is to draw attention to the needs of these children and youth, particularly their need for permanent families, and also to encourage efforts to help those who are not adopted;
In support of that goal, courts throughout Michigan will participate in Michigan Adoption Day on or about November 23 by finalizing adoptions, holding celebrations for adoptive families, and educating the public about the adoption process; therefore,
We, the Justices of the Michigan Supreme Court, declare November 23,2010, to be Michigan Adoption Day 2010, with our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the families, courts, adoption workers, and others participating in Michigan Adoption Day.
In recognition whereof, we have affixed the seal of the Michigan Supreme Court on this day of November 4, Anno Domini MMX, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred and thirty-fourth year.
