Display your quilts or motorcycles at the Mint Festival

Do you have a family heirloom or a quilt you created yourself? Then consider displaying it at the Quilt Show during the 2011 St. Johns Mint Festival. Entry forms are available from the Chamber of Commerce or you can print one off the webpage at www.clintoncountychamber.org/mint. They are due at the Chamber of Commerce office by Friday, August 5. With your entry form you should include a brief write up about the quilt.

Festival goers will select a “People’s Choice” and that entry will win a small prize. The quilt show will be monitored by volunteers during festival hours and securely locked up at night. The Quilt Show will be open all hours of the festival – entries will need to be delivered to Smith Hall on the county fairgrounds on Thursday, August 11 between 3-6 pm.

Also included in the Quilt Show is a Wall Hanging Quilt Challenge. Entries must be 50″ X 50″ or smaller and utilize the theme “Red”. Use your wildest imagination and show us how you see Red.

If your pride and joy is a motorcycle instead of a quilt, then you should include it in a display of Motorcycles that will be in one of the open pavilions on the county fairgrounds throughout the weekend. While we would love for your bike to be displayed all weekend (or all of one of the days), if you are unable to have it up there all day it must be displayed at least four hours. There is a brief application that must be completed. Again, they are available at the Chamber or on the website.

Other events for Motorcycle lovers include a judged show on Saturday, August 13 from 12-4 pm and then on Sunday, August 14 there will be a Blessing of the Bikes at 1:00 pm with a Bike Ride through Clinton County immediately following. The ride is expected to conclude by 3:00 pm. Bikers should note that to get into the county fairgrounds you need to enter off Townsend Road. There will be a volunteer at the gate directing you to the location. Please do not attempt to enter through Sickles Street – you will be asked to turn around and enter by way of the Townsend Road entrance.

If you have any questions about either of these events, or any others of the festival, contact the Chamber of Commerce at 989-224-7248, or email them at ccchamber@power-net.net
