Do you remember the "Camel Crossing" on US 27?

This was my family's home, my dad sold the house because my mother passed away. The camel has been down for about 6 years now, but was up there for 22 years. They used the camel for the movie "Humps" when it came to St .Johns. Do you remember?

The reason behind the "Camel Crossing" was not because of  the movie "Humps". The movie theater just borrowed the camel to put out front. There was a write up in the paper at the time about it. I just thought that was how some people would have remembered it.

My parents had it up many years before we moved to Michigan in 1976.  My Aunt made it for my parents because my dad is Lebanese and they called him "a camel rider."  So it really was has been around for 40 years. The Camel was old!

Anyway, my father passed away on Feb.5, 2004 and he was 94. The service for him is Feb.28 at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral home on Michigan Ave., at 4pm.

A lot of people throughout the years had made many comments about he camel and why we had it there and stopped to take pictures of it.

Thank you,
Jessica Youness Johns
