Doris I. Secord Doris I. Secord, 78, died Tuesday. Services 11 a.m. Friday at Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns. [full obituary] Daniel Medina, Sr., a resident of Ovid most of his life, went to be with his God on November 7, 2003. He was born December 15, 1926, the son of Daniel and Agapita (Ortiz) Medina and due to the untimely death of his parents, was raised by his grandfather, Florentino Medina. Daniel was a veteran of WWII and retired from Motor Wheel in 1983. In June of 1948, he married Irene Salinaz and she survives him. Also surviving are eight children, Pete (Diane) Salinaz, Carmen (Frank) Chontos, Daniel (Frances) Medina, Caroline (Roberto) Hernandez, Victor (Jamie) Medina, Lucy Medina, Raymond (Josy) Medina and Jesse Medina. Daniel also has 19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandfather and his brother and sister. Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at the Houghton Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes, Ovid, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns with Deacon Michael Barrett officiating. Visitation will be 9:00-8:00 Monday with the family present 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 with a Rosary being prayed 7:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Military Graveside Services provided by St. Johns Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or Ovid-Middlebury Emergency Services. Louis A. Brya, loving husband, father and grandfather, died November 6, 2003, at the age of 87. He was born on March 1, 1916, the son of Theodore and Jennie (Vanderlee) Brya. He retired from Oldsmobile, as a motor repairman after 30 years of service, was a retired farmer and a member of St. Mary Cathedral in Lansing. He enjoyed his family and traveling. Louis married Margaret Fox on May 4, 1940 and she survives him. Also surviving are four sons, Terry (Sue) Brya, Doug (Donna) Brya, James (Patricia) Brya and Ken Brya, all of St. Johns, daughter, Linda (Jerry) McCool of St. Johns, fourteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Eva Merignac and Lucille Calder and one brother, Francis Brya. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 10, 2003 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns, with burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns. The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Saturday and 3-5 and 7-9 P.M. Sunday at the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns, with a vigil service 8 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent Home-Lansing or St. Jude Childrens Research, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 300, Memphis, TN 38148. Monica M. Thelen, 75, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peacefully at home on November 5, 2003 surrounded by her family who love her very much. Born on October 30, 1928, she was the daughter of Alfred Doc and Bernita (Bertram) Simon. She was a life-long resident of Fowler and a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Louis E. Thelen, children, Ann (Dennis) Schneider of Portland, Steve (Sandy) Thelen of Perrinton, Pat (Julie) Thelen of Maple Rapids, Kay (Mike) Roberts of Fowlerville, Phyllis (James) Selleck of East Lansing, Lou Ellen (Andy) Kinloch of Grand Ledge and Amy (Tom) Graham of Tokyo, Japan, 18 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also survived by brother, Urban Gib Simon, sisters, Sally Schueller and Flo Jenks and many dear sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and friends. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, November 8, 2003 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, burial at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery with the Rev. Fr. Timothy E. MacDonald officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Thursday and Friday at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Fowler, with rosary prayed at 3 and 8 P.M. both days.
