Dorothy K. Kremer

kremer_dorothy.jpg (4366 bytes)Dorothy K. Kremer age 85 of Bannister, MI died on Monday, October 15, 2007 at the Ovid Health Care Center, Ovid MI.

Dorothy was born November 2, 1921 in Elsie, MI, the daughter of Ralph and Ethel Dean (Albaugh) Williams. She was a life-long resident, and wife of a dairy farmer who was a milk hauler of Chapin Township, Saginaw County.

Dorothy had a teaching certificate from Central Michigan University. She taught grades K – 12 at the Sawyer school (a one room school house) in Elsie from 1942 to 1946. Dorothy became a stay at home mom after the birth of her first child. She was a homemaker and worked with her husband Forest to help with the farming. In 1963 Dorothy became employed as a librarian at the Elsie Junior High School in Elsie MI where she worked until she retired in 1983.

On March 2, 1946 Dorothy married Forest C. Kremer. She is survived by their four children: Howard and Linda Kremer of Coleman, MI, Larry Kremer of Elsie, MI, Bonnie and Dr. Walter Crowson of Bingham Farms, MI and Brenda and Gregg Denton of Plymouth, MI, 2 grand children Tamara Kremer Jousett of Indianapolis, IN and Theodore Kremer of Potterville, MI, 1 step grand child Jony Crowson Murphy of Alto, MI, 1 great granddaughter Joelle Lilly Jousett, 1 step great grandson Sean Collon Murphy, 1 sister, Leona Mae Baker of Elsie, MI and many friends and neighbors. She was predeceased on October 1, 2007 by her husband Forest C. Kremer.

Dorothy had a passion for sewing, gardening, canning and preserving the produce from her garden and orchard. Every year hundreds of mason jars were filled with the fruits and vegetables from her garden She took great pride in her family, her home and all of her domestic skills.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 P.M.and Wednesday 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. The funeral services will be Thursday, October 18, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Ed Snook will officiate and burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, Michigan. Memorials may be made to the Ovid VFW Post 8964 or the Elsie Public Library. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

Lois J. Love

love_lois.jpg (4937 bytes)Lois J. Love, 66 died Sunday, October 14, 2007 at Sparrow Hospital following a stroke. Lois was born Dec. 9, 1940 in Owosso, MI the daughter of Howard and Ruth (Prussner) Walter. She graduated from Ovid High School in 1959 and on Aug. 13, 1960 she married Paul Love in Burton, MI. Lois had worked as an accountant for local businesses and then became co-owner with Paul in Love Photography. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, United Church of Ovid and enjoyed traveling and camping with other camping club members.

She is survived by her husband Paul; sons, Patrick and Jane of Lansing, David and T’ann of Ovid, and John and Inna of Washington D.C.; daughters, Lauri and Brian Stephens of St. Johns and Cathy and Chad Love-Wilkins of St. Johns; grandchildren, Alisha and Kara Stephens, Saige, Bailee, Jacqleen, Symone and Cardell Wilkins all of St. Johns. Emily, Abigayle and Isaac Love of Grand Ledge, Alexandra, Brianna, Caleb and Dalton Love of Ovid, and Sebastian Love of Washington, D. C.; mother in law, Alice Love of Laingsburg; brothers, Max and Frieda Walter of Portage,  Clare and Mary Ellen Walter of Owosso and Ron Walter of Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Kenneth and Doug and sister Marian Kline.

Funeral services will be held at United Church of Ovid on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Don Fry officiating. The family will receive friends at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns, on Monday 6-8 P.M. and Tuesday, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Galen Bashore

Funeral services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes in Elsie, Michigan on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Gary Hawes will officiate and burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 16, 2007 from 2-8 P.M. with the family present 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.

Galen was born in Twelve Mile, Indiana on April 3, 1919 the son of Charles Wesley and Daisy Mae (Steele) Bashore. He resided all of his life in the Elsie, Michigan. He was married to Betty Lou Dunham on October 12, 1945 in Elsie, Michigan. They recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. He was a dairy farmer, worked for Federal Mogul; he owned and operated a milk route. He enjoyed baseball, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, pulled ponies and he also enjoyed all outdoor sports. He also liked to play cards and he liked to bowl. He was a member of the National Farmer Organization, V.F.W.; he served in the U.S. Army in WWII stationed in the Hawaiian Islands where he was a photographer for the U.S. Army.

Survivors are his wife; Betty Bashore of Elsie, Michigan, two sons; Bruce and Barbara Bashore of Florida, Gary and Beverly Bashore of Hastings, Michigan, two daughters; Diana and Jerry Guyski of Owosso, Michigan, Deb and Randy Hunt of Elsie Michigan and ten grandchildren; Daisy and Wesley Shafer, Betsy and Chris McCall, Tracy Bashore, Clint Bashore, Thomas Bashore, Kathryn and Jason Fries, Jenae and Gary VanEffen, Dan and Becky Guyski, Mathew and Tina Byrnes, and Hillary and Nick Fabus. He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, one granddaughter; Kimberly, four brothers; Clark, Woodrow, Ora, Loren and five sisters; Helen, Pauline, Irene, Wilma, and Virginia.

Raymond B. Eick

Raymond Buck Eick died at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor on October 12, 2007 at the age of 98. He was born in St. Johns on January 31, 1909 the son of Herman and Eva (Buck) Ike. Ray married Gertrude Bishop on December 17, 1937 and she preceded him in death October 13, 2003. He worked in home improvement as a decorator, was a member of the First Congregational Church in St. Johns, the Masonic Lodge, the Exchange Club, and the Knights Templar.

He is survived by one daughter, Marilyn (Jeff) Gearhart of St. Johns, two grandchildren, Tracie (Brian) Pack of Fowlerville and Amy Gearhart of Arizona, three great grandchildren, Jaedon, Laia, and Jourdyn Gearhart, and one brother, Donald Ike of St. Johns. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am Monday, October 15, 2007 at the First Congregational Church in St. Johns, with Rev. Matt Olson officiating. Memorials may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society, 7095 W Grand River Ave, Lansing, MI, 48906. Arrangements through the St. Johns Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes.

Dorothy M. Light

light_dorothy.jpg (3044 bytes)Dorothy M. Light, 86 died October 10, 2007 at her home. Dorothy was born Jan. 2, 1921 in Fowler the daughter of Daniel and Katherine (Fox) Miller. Dorothy was a homemaker and loved the dog; Chey, baseball, wordbooks and watching the grandchildren play softball. She was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She married Earl Light in 1945 in Fowler. He died in October, 1976.

She is survived by son Richard and Debbie Light of St. Johns; daughter, Ruth and Gary Zell of St. Johns; 3 grandchildren, Bruce and Angie Zell, Terri and Gary Chant and John Zell all of St. Johns; 9 great grandchildren and a sister Mrs. Rita VanDenboss of Battle Creek. She was preceded in death by parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral services will be held at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007 at 11:00 A.M.. Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday and Friday, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Memorials may be given to her family.

Leo Peter Klein

klein_leo.jpg (4448 bytes)Leo Peter Klein, Westphalia, age 71, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2007. He was born on July 6, 1936 in Clinton County, Michigan the son of Louis and Dora (Fedewa) Klein. Leo was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Westphalia. He worked for The Christman Company for 17 years and then retired from Ingham Regional Medical Center as a locksmith. Leo also served with the Westphalia Fire Department for 25 years. He was very active in several wildlife organizations and was a motorcycle enthusiast. Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, on December 5, 1995 and brothers, Louis and Richard Klein.

Surviving are his children, Linda Torres of DeWitt, Luke (Cindy) Klein of St. Johns, Diane (Gerard) Thelen of Fowler, Sharon (Michael) Graff of St. Johns, Lee (Tiffany) Klein of Westphalia, Duane (Wendy) Klein of Fowler, Dean (Lesley) Klein of St. Johns and Lynn Klein of Eaton Rapids; 22 grandchildren; sisters, Rose (Stanley) Schafer, Mary Ann (Edward) George and Helen (Richard) Schneider; brothers, Anthony Klein, Herman (Alice) Klein, Stanley Klein, Clarence Klein and Mark (Kay) Klein; and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Cecilio Reyna at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on both Thursday and Friday at the Westphalia Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia St. The Rosary will be prayed at 3 and 8 p.m. on Thursday and 3 p.m. Friday. A Scriptural Wake Service will be prayed at 8 p.m. Thursday. Online condolences may be made at .

Donald R. Cooper

Donald R. Cooper died at his residence on October 8, 2007 at the age of 69. He was born in St. Johns the son of Donald and Dorothy (Rademacher) Cooper. He was a retired Oldmosbile employee and a member of the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his mother and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and his son Ricky. There will be no visitaion or sevices as it was Donald's wish to be cremated. Arrangements by the St. Johns Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes.

Eugene H. Rensberry

Funeral Services will be held at Bethel Mennonite Church, Ashley, MI on Friday, October 12, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Joe Pendleton will officiate with burial at Ford Cemetery Gratiot County, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2007 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.

Eugene was born in Hillman, Michigan on May 14, 1934 the son of Herschel and Beatrice ( Essner ) Rensberry. He resided in Clinton County since 1957, and graduated from Spring Arbor High School. He then attended Ferris State University. Eugene married Katherine DeBarr on August 5, 1955 in Harrison, Michigan. She passed away on September 4, 2003. He married Margaret Bontranger on October 6, 2007. He retired in 1998 from Dow, Howell, and Gilmore Associates. He enjoyed music, being outdoors, puttering with his tractor, and taking care of his trees. Eugene attended Bethel Minnonite Church, Ashley, MI and he was a RAVE Volunteer.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Rensberry of St. Johns, MI, children; Diane and David Johns of Harrison, MI, Michael and Lucy Rensberry of Lansing, MI, Victor and Roberta Rensberry of Ladson, SC, grandchildren; Jeremy, Nicholas, and Kari Rensberry, Andrea and Katherine Johns, Eddie, Sharon, Chrissy, and Jessica Padgett, several great grandchildren, 5 brothers; Merlyn Rensberry, Howard Rensberry, Forest Rensberry, Irving Rensberry, Paul Rensberry, 3 sisters; Thelma Greene, Flossie Shaw, and Arlene Mashburn, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, 1st wife, and 1 sister Phylis English.
